Collaboration: Listening Actively

Tim Baker

Chapter Chapter 27 in The New Influencing Toolkit, 2015, pp 243-253 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Listening actively is defined as the capability of practicing non-defensive and empathic listening. Many difficult situations can be resolved by practicing active listening. It is one of the most under-utilized interpersonal skills of management. Despite this, to collaborate in an influential manner, listening actively is a vitally important capability to changing or modifying behavior.
