The Development of Self-Management in Yugoslavia

Hans Dieter Seibel and Ukandi G. Damachi

Chapter 3 in Self-Management in Yugoslavia and the Developing World, 1982, pp 42-59 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Legally, self-management was introduced on 27 June 1950. At that point, the economy was under the authority of the state administration. From there to the ‘self-management society’ was still a long way, its realization being a gradual process extending both ways: before and after that specific date. For more than a decade, self-management remained more a ‘revolutionary vision in the process of realization’ than an accomplished fact (Gorupic and Paj, 1970, p. 6).
