Abstract:
Abstract So what do we have?… 1. All innovation is inherently chaotic, and therefore uncertain. 2. New tasks often grow at exponential rates. 3. The spontaneous and the unexpected are the norm for n-innovation. 4. Large groups of interacting autonomous agents produce a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts. 5. Simple rules breed complex behaviour and profound emergent structures. 6. Bottom-up organisation is more flexible and responsive. 7. Feedback is what gives learning and adaptation, in turn, self-organisation! To underline all of this, Kevin Kelly wrote: For jobs where supreme control is demanded, good old clockware is the way to go. Where supreme adaptability is required, out-of-control swarmware is what you want.
