A chapter in Retail Therapy, 2003, pp 197-198 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Well that’s it. I hope everyone learned something, I know I did. When we started planning this book, we envisaged it tackling retail at a much lower level – sort of a handbook for senior managers to follow. In the end, most of that content has found its way in here anyway, it just didn’t feature as largely as originally expected. Instead, we decided to go with the big ideas, while we had your attention – we hung all the detail on them. So you’ve seen quite a lot about the future of retail and most importantly you’ve seen some new ways of looking at the old questions – how to keep customers happy, how to evoke loyalty from staff. To the best of my knowledge this is the first time these new ways of thinking about retail brands and employee relations have been published anywhere. If you found them compelling, you can be the first to take a look at your business in this new light and see what it reveals.
