Chapter Chapter 2 in The Colombian Economy and Its Regional Structural Challenges, 2023, pp 19-36 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter discusses whether there is still room for the implementation of regional policies in Colombia. Given the high and persistent inequalities, the chapter revises the existing literature on regional development, as well as the main challenges that lagged regions face to develop, and the key regional or local development strategies that have been implemented in the country. Finally, it concludes with an analysis of the importance of considering the regional heterogeneity when implementing development strategies.
