Abstract: Abstract Some of the most dramatic changes in regional economic and infrastructure capacity follow from natural disasters. These events imply substantial economic losses associated with the disruption of the urban economy. Despite this, the existing literature on the cost of earthquakes is largely restricted to the measurement of structure and contents losses.
