Chapter Chapter 9 in Innovation and Regional Growth in the European Union, 2011, pp 169-181 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This book has focused on the relationship between innovation and regional growth in order to uncover the features (related to both physical space and the socio-economic realm) that have enabled some areas to benefit more than others from the process of globalisation and technological change. In this perspective the objective of this work has been to analyse the role of geography (accessibility) and socio-economic conditions (social filter) in the translation of innovative efforts into regional economic growth.
