Chapter Chapter 14 in Congestion-Prone Services Under Quality Competition, 2011, pp 359-365 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The main theme of this study has been economic analyses of both private and public services at the final consumption stage, which can account for two unique features of the services: quality competition among service options, and congestion due to capacity shortage. To accommodate these two unique features, this study has introduced a series of modeling approaches for the decision-making problems of consumer and suppliers. These modeling approaches fundamentally differ from those used in existing studies. For this reason, this study has developed analytical outcomes that depict market equilibrium and assess resource allocation efficiency in a manner that significantly differs from that used in existing studies. Here these distinctive aspects of the present study are highlighted, as summary and concluding remarks.
