Chapter Chapter 7 in Applied Regional Growth and Innovation Models, 2014, pp 139-172 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The Brazilian economy has gone through a remarkable transformation since the difficult times of the last quarter of the twentieth century. Brazil is now seen as one of the engines of global economic growth and together with Russia, India and China makes up the often cited BRIC acronym. During the current decade, Brazil is expected to overtake the economies of Britain and France and become the world’s fifth largest economy, with São Paulo possibly the world’s fifth wealthiest city.
