Chapter Chapter 1 in European Metropolitan Commercial Real Estate Markets, 2014, pp 1-8 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This section contains the background of the monograph being the pendant of European Metropolitan Housing Markets by Andersson et al. It presents its twofold objective: understanding the mechanism between commercial real estate dynamics and institutions on one side and interpreting the observed dynamics in a cross country analysis providing the necessary details for real estate development in practice on the other side. The content is explained consisting of an overarching chapter with a systematic comparison of the main European metropolitan areas in which differences in dynamics and institutions are related to macro economic data. The following ten chapters deal with individual metropolitan areas with a focus on a specific issue typical for that area. Finally, quality and sources of the used data are discussed.
