Chapter Chapter 24 in Regional Problems and Policies in Latin America, 2013, pp 553-569 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Latin America is currently in a favorable economic situation, given the very uncertain conditions of the global economy. In particular, the region shows relatively high growth rates, co-exists in an environment of democratic opening and, with certain exceptions, has achieved a reduction in its poverty rates. A central element behind this great economic dynamism has been the renewed interest recovered by foreign investment in continuing to increase its participation in Latin America.
