Abstract:
Abstract This paper highlights the research potential of Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) in the light of their applicability to spatial-economic systems, particularly as far as they apply to interregional freight transport. Seen from this perspective, the first part of the paper is devoted to a concise overview and illustration of EAs, as well as a comparison of EAs with other recent analysis tools emerging from bio-computing, such as Neural Networks (NNs).
