Socio-economic Impact Assessment: Meeting Client Requirements

Peter W. J. Batey and Moss Madden

Chapter 3 in Regional Science in Business, 2001, pp 37-59 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Socio-economic impact assessment is a field of analysis, simulation and forecasting dating back in the USA to the mid 1960s, where early examples such as the Susquehanna River Basin study (Hamilton et al., 1969) relied upon a sequential simulation structure to model the effects of the implementation of different policy packages upon the economy and population structure of their study area. Other studies, such as that of the Boulder economy (Miernyk et el., 1967), took as their starting point a Leontief input-output model, and used this as the driver for an investigation of potential shifts in demographic variables as a result of economic changes.
