Chapter 12 in National Transport Models, 2002, pp 146-155 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This paper gives an overview of the development of national traffic forecasting in Britain. It sets out some proposals for taking this work forward with the objective of setting up a form of national transport policy model. The paper starts by describing the practice of the 1980s, sets out some of the more important changes in national forecasting since then, and considers some possible future developments.
