Chapter 13 in National Transport Models, 2002, pp 159-169 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This paper discusses some fundamental issues relating to the design and use of national or international transport models, and then briefly outlines the development of one such model, STREAMS, which models all passenger and freight movements within the EU. A detailed analysis of the factors influencing the growth in passenger travel demand is presented to illustrate some of the design principles underlying this model.
