Topical Approach: Gender Discrimination as CSR Problem

Abstract: Abstract Carroll’s model on its own has not been able to satisfy demands that CSR should not remain vague as a theoretical concept. In order to fill the concept with greater meaning, theoretically, it could be enhanced with a concrete selected problem of social responsibility. In combination with the existing general theoretical model, this approach may be able to shed further light on what concrete corporate responsibilities in this topical domain organizations have, but also what obstacles may hinder the realization of these responsibilities—a question the general model has not been able to make statements on. The infringement perspective in the CSR theoretical model also promises to yield information on “neuralgic” points and potentially effective leverage to improved CSR. When one considers the existing CSR definitions’ common denominators, they reveal strong frequencies of “economic” and “social” dimensions in their definitions. From the theoretical perspective taken here, it is troubling also the “voluntarism” dimension yields almost equally high frequencies. It is hoped with the arguing of a concrete CSR topic against a strong existing theoretical backdrop, it can be demonstrated the frequent “voluntarism” dimension is in fact incompatible with what is here understood as “core”—normatively backed—social responsibilities.
