Mathematical Methods and Statistical Tables

Chapter Chapter 9 in Standards for Management Systems, 2020, pp 689-792 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Management system standards come with requirements for measurements, quantifications, analysis and statistical methods. This chapter is designed to offer the reader guidance which mathematical concepts will be crucial in this context. It may be used as a refresher and for reference. The chapter offers not only a list of formulas, but includes an introduction to differential and integral calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, Bayesian analysis and properties of the most important probability density distributions. The chapter includes proof of the important central limit theorem, derivations of the Chi-square, t- and F-distributions and many other topics. A collection of statistical tables is included which are needed in the context of statistical tests and confidence interval calculations.
