Chapter 3 in Creating Innovation Spaces, 2021, pp 33-48 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The article describes the developmental stages of innovation management and the new implications caused by digitization. In order to delimit and position companies in the innovation ecosystem, an approach to determine meaningful company boundaries is presented. The fundamentally ambidextrous corporate structure requires methods, processes and measures with which the paradox between exploration and exploitation can be resolved and controlled. In this regard, corporate culture and communication play a decisive role for the transition towards ambidextrous innovation management.
