Abstract: Abstract Defining a strategy is crucial for any company to deploy resources appropriately. The same holds for a service strategy—while its importance even increases when manufacturers have limited experience with managing the service business. Formulating a service strategy is a comprehensive endeavor that must be aligned with the overall corporate objectives and strategy. The service strategy definition process must incorporate actionable initiatives that demonstrate how the service business will contribute to the overall companies’ success. A service strategy is thus detailed by, for instance, describing which objectives are pursued with which portfolio. Consequently, this chapter shows how manufacturers can approach service strategy formulation in a structured manner by paying attention to important prerequisites and applicable methods or tools.
