Chapter 4 in Measuring Productivity in Education and Not-for-Profits, 2021, pp 45-66 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter introduces and defines the concept of productivity change. It explains benefits and limitations of measuring productivity change instead of absolute productivity. It then provides an industry standard technique for computing productivity change, the Törnqvist index (TI). The tutorial in this chapter examines four hypothetical universities and how their productivity changes over time. It provides the reader with several general-purpose analytical tools for computing productivity change on their own data.
