Chapter 7 in Measuring Productivity in Education and Not-for-Profits, 2021, pp 99-118 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces values analysis for DEA. It steps the reader through how and why values analysis needs to be conducted when using DEA for education institutions and not-for-profits. The tutorial expands up on the case study of five non-for-profit organisations from the previous chapter. It demonstrates how to make best use of all the results a DEA analysis provides, and illustrates how different portrayals of the data may be more or less appropriate depending upon stakeholder values and objectives. The chapter further entertains the possibility that initial results may not produce appropriate findings, and it provides the reader with alternative approaches and several additional considerations for adding depth to the analysis.
