Chapter 3 in From Big Data to Intelligent Data, 2021, pp 49-56 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The Internet of Things (IoT) together with streaming big data offer tremendous opportunities for new business ideas and new ventures. As data is sourced from disparate sources, including embedded sensor devices, a big challenge and a big competitive edge is data aggregation. Data aggregation is about connecting the dots and creating an aggregated database, also called a unified database. A unified database is often referred to in the industry as the golden copy. As the name implies, it is a valuable commodity no business would want to share or publicize. Creating the golden copy is the secret sauce. A related quote from the movie The Circle (2017) is when the lead actor Tom Hanks tells the audience during a presentation “Knowing is good but knowing everything is better.”
