Chapter 4 in Managing Agile Business Technology, 2022, pp 63-87 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Our thinking is often constrained by what has gone before and so this chapter explains how the business landscape can be analysed in ways that have not previously been possible. Over the last 50 years TSPs have focused on the discovery of requirements, the overall architecture, and the management of the development and operational delivery of products and services. This may have the appearance of being a thorough process but it is actually piecemeal or fragmentary and serial. The approach has its problems and the industry has tried to address this through the analysis of broad business areas to determine strategies and investment priorities. Sadly, these strategy studies were typically one-off initiatives which when left on the shelf quickly became out of date and were eventually unsuitable or even irrelevant.
