Chapter 16 in Leadership for a Digital World, 2022, pp 137-140 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The book’s final chapter serves as a brief executive summary. Its main messages are the following: Organizations that have not yet done so must transform themselves for the future. Survival will require dynamic capabilities. To provide these capabilities, new management models should enable the creation and effective use of a combination of sub-capabilities, that allow a constantly changing, people-centric and ambidextrous organization, as well as full use of open innovation and a systemic approach. Google’s management model and Haier’s RenDanHeYi are prime examples of such models, and each is based on a similar set of new management meta-principles. RenDanHeYi, which appears to be more disruptive, is widely useful but requires local, organization-specific adaptation. Finally, the transformation journey is difficult but ultimately worthwhile, as it contributes to the common benefit of all.
