Abstract: Abstract The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) is established in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, one of the southern state of India. Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) is the operator of the project. It is the largest nuclear power plant in India. The reactors at Kundankulam were placed under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Phase 1 of the project saw the commissioning of two 1000 megawatt (MW) pressurized water reactor (PWR) based on Russian technology. Indian government took up credit offers which amounted to US$3.06 billion which represented 53% of the estimated total project cost.
