A New Generational Contract

Abstract:
Abstract In our everyday understanding, the meaning of the term “generation” is both straightforward and somewhat vague. It divides people into old and young and at the same time evokes a multitude of stereotypes. “Generations” in this sense are defined not only by the age of their members but also by the life choices they make. The latter can change over the course of a working life—especially when different generations work together. Effective generational diversity management is the responsibility of line managers, HR managers, and company leadership. The basis for this approach is a company culture that is free of prejudice, in which everyone is valued and resources are distributed fairly. Building on this foundation, the process begins at the interview stage and aims to promote both the progress and development of the individual employee and the social cohesion of the group.
