A chapter in Intellectual Property Management for Start-ups, 2023, pp 147-172 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The purpose of this chapter is to assist readers in demystifying the investment process in start-ups and early-stage companies. The authors address this topic from both a start-up and investor perspective and provide further insight on determinant factors of the investment decision-making process. While focusing on the Canadian regulatory landscape, the authors emphasize the importance of establishing an intellectual property strategy (MVIP) early on, enhancing the ability of start-ups to attract capital from investors, as well as to foster competition and productivity.
