Chapter 6 in Business Opportunities and Risks in China, 2023, pp 67-80 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The size of the Chinese economy and its massive impact on global trade make China a crucial player in the world economy. This chapter provides an overview on the size of the Chinese market, including the structure of its economy and the size and structure of foreign trade in terms of partner countries and import and export commodities, as well as an analysis on the Chinese consumer market. Due to the continuous growth of the middle class and the increasing disposable income in China, the domestic consumer market plays an important role in the global market. The consumer goods sector provides promising opportunities for businesses seeking to expand into new markets.
