Chapter 3 in The Researcher Entrepreneur, 2023, pp 13-17 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Many researchers and academics find the commercialisation process daunting and challenging at best. The unfortunate pressure which most institutions place on them to “publish or perish” means that there is generally not enough motivation to attempt commercialisation of even very promising technologies. The end result is that potentially valuable innovations are lost or commercialised by third parties and the inventor derives minimal benefit. Only by venturing out of their comfort zone can a researcher derive maximum profit from their ideas and inventions.
