Abstract:
Abstract This chapter offers an insightful exploration into the dual nature of uncertainty within projects, encompassing both risks and opportunities. Drawing upon theoretical frameworks and practical experiences, it seeks to elucidate the critical role of risk management and opportunity identification in enhancing project outcomes and maximizing value creation. It begins by defining project risks as potential events or circumstances that may have adverse effects on project objectives, while opportunities are events or circumstances that may have favourable impacts if capitalized upon. It highlights the inherent uncertainty and complexity of projects, underscoring the importance of proactive risk management and opportunity realization throughout the project lifecycle.
