Chapter Chapter 1 in Enterprise Governance of Information Technology, 2025, pp 1-16 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The main title of this book refers to the concept of “Enterprise Governance of IT,” a concept that addresses the definition and implementation of processes, structures, and relational mechanisms that enable both business and IT stakeholders to carry out their responsibilities to support of business/IT alignment and the creation and protection of IT business value. The subtitle of this book refers to these two other important concepts, namely “business/IT alignment” and “IT business value.” In this introductory chapter, these three core concepts are defined, and the relationship between them is introduced. Each of these concepts will be discussed more in-depth in the subsequent chapters. Before introducing the key concepts, we do add a short discussion on the context and complexity of digital transformation in organizations.
