Instituting Control and Oversight

Christos Voudouris

Chapter Chapter 9 in Autonomic Business Transformation, 2025, pp 107-120 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Human control and oversight of autonomic business (AB) and its associated processes are paramount. The more autonomy these systems have, the more monitoring, explanations, and control are required. This is crucial for ensuring the adoption of AB. We examine both the soft aspects of aligning AB with company values, vision, and mission and the hard aspects of implementing effective mitigations and process controls to ensure the safety and security, including cybersecurity, of autonomic systems and AB as a whole. We consider how to build trust within the organization towards AI technologies, look at the risks associated with the deployment of AI agents, in addition to examining the wider national and international AI governance and regulatory efforts.
