A chapter in Managing VUCA Through Integrative Self-Management, 2017, pp 209-228 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The present chapter is based on my endeavor and experience of teaching behavioral science in context of organization during last two decades. In general, in Organizational BehaviorOrganizational Behavior we teach intrapersonal, interpersonal, group-level, and organizational perspective of management. The contents are mostly based on empirical findings and equip participants with analytical skills through interactional process. However the learning misses the experiential dimension of understanding self, others, and the relations between the self and the others. BehavioralBehavioral aspects of management seems incomplete without the input of spiritual dimension, as the latter is capable of making a resilient self that is ready to combat various situations at work place as well as in life. This chapter takes the route of SanskritSanskrit scriptures to address the spiritual dimension of managing self, managing human relations, and managing work at organization. Needless to emphasize that the well-managed Self is ready to respond appropriately to the world filled with Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA).
