Chapter Chapter 9 in Integrated Business Planning, 2018, pp 249-265 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter, we brainstorm about impact of the disruptive technology trends on IBP. We connect “what and how” Internet of things, big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence can influence future of IBP. We bring our observations into data latency and degree of customization of the products perspective. We share some of the trends on visualizations explaining how IBP can transform in life sciences, high-tech, industrial, consumer industry when connected to new technology trends. We debate how all SAP planning applications could be connected to enable faster and full digitalization of complete business environment. Finally, we brainstorm that IBP connected to IoT, big data, ML, AI generates a need for new capabilities or services. It generates a need for adoption which is not always easy. Somehow we have found it interesting that people’s ability to change behavior depends on “people networks” and technology adoption on “technology networks.” Those two abilities seem like a primary focus area in making future of IBP happening.
