A chapter in IT Management in the Digital Age, 2019, pp 41-48 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Ever since its inception, information technology has been viewed as a means of automating and rationalizing business processes. Unsurprisingly, in the years of its development, corporate IT has developed ever more professional structures and processes to accommodate the needs of business departments, plan appropriate IT support, implement them, and then operate and offer them in the form of IT services. IT departments often work in a reactive way, that is, they “wait” for the wishes of the business departments. They are thus usually perceived as internal company support functions or service providers.
