Opportunity: Meaningful Business Intelligence
Thomas Frisendal ()
Chapter 10 in Design Thinking Business Analysis, 2012, pp 93-95 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract One of the first books about business intelligence was “The Data Warehouse Toolkit” (Kimball 1996). Excellent book – much of the content is still valid. (There is a second edition from 2002). On the accompanying CD (!) there were some sample documents. One of those is a “Dimensional Model” (prepared by Ralph Kimball, Laura Reeves, Margy Ross and Warren Thornthwaite in 1998). One of the purposes of such a document is to describe the dimensions in the multidimensional model.
