Chapter 7 in Disinformation Attacks On Businesses, 2026, pp 59-70 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter profiles the American media prankster Joey Skaggs, who has been deceiving journalists with absurd, satirical hoaxes since the 1960s to expose the gullibility and irresponsibility of the media. Skaggs warns of deep fakes and fake news and advocates for greater media literacy. His pranks highlight the vulnerability of journalists and how easily disinformation can be introduced into the media.
