Abstract: Abstract A complex methodology such as project management should not be based on only one theory or school of thought. Modern project management has to be capable of handling a very wide range of project types and situations. It must be possible to apply it on a situational, differentiated basis. If we think of the project manager as a musician, he needs to be capable of playing a range of instruments. Which means that he needs to be comfortable using a range of different intellectual approaches, some of which may at times appear contradictory or mutually exclusive.
