Chapter Chapter 2 in Warranty Chain Management, 2022, pp 25-51 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Many reasons contribute to warranties, ranging from unsatisfactory product returns to abnormal quality during service or even functional failures requiring warranty coverage. These are related to the product design and manufacturing qualities, for instance, whether these products are capable of sustaining operational intensities or malfunctioning as a result of inappropriate use, or failure of parts during assembly, or abnormal quality due to assembly errors. Naturally, timely addressing abnormalities prior to the occurrence or advance knowledge of the product's operating status through sensors may effectively reduce unanticipated product failures.
