Chapter Chapter 3 in Defining Enterprise Data and Analytics Strategy, 2022, pp 37-56 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract A business-driven approach for defining data and analytics architecture is always more successful in enabling an enterprise’s required business capabilities than a purely technology-driven approach. There are many examples of failure of enterprises that adopted a purely technology-driven approach, even though they used best-in-class tools and technologies. A structured approach should be followed to define enterprise data and analytics technology and architecture strategy. The approach starts with understanding and analyzing various non-functional requirements of business stakeholders across business units, functions, regions, and levels within the enterprise. This would help in identifying various architectural options, choosing the best-suited option, and selecting the tools and technologies that would work best for the chosen architectural option.
