Chapter Chapter 4 in The Economic Value of Digital Disruption, 2023, pp 331-393 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Digital platforms are the lynchpin of the digital economy. The Network effects create “winner takes all,” resulting in oligopolies that we see today in the digital world. The platform economy is littered with successful commercial firms like Uber and Airbnb. Apart from creating lifestyle conveniences, platforms have also created millions of new jobs, alleviating the loss due to automation.
