Chapter Chapter 1 in Platform Business Models for Executives, 2023, pp 1-14 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Platform businesses are structurally and economically different from traditional (or pipeline) businesses. They differ in three ways—they operate as network businesses, they serve different sets of users, and operate in ecosystems. At the end of this chapter, you would have learnt the fundamental differences between platform firms and other business models; understood the basic concepts of network economics; and would be able to appreciate the value of ecosystems in businesses.
