A chapter in Strategic Innovative Marketing and Tourism, 2019, pp 1093-1101 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The aim of this study is to explore the role of entrepreneurship in relation to dentistry in order to examine aspects of entrepreneurial approach in the profession of dentists taking Romania as a case study. The job of a dentist is one that attracts Romanians more and more, just as the competition between the academic faculties shows. After many years of studies that offer academic and practical skills, graduates enter a saturated and highly competitive market. Physicians who manage private practices that are associated with a specific treatment unit or those who run more complex clinics, with several specializations and employees, compete for the same pool of patients. Success is assured not only by medical mastery, but by taking advantage of certain qualities that are associated with those of an entrepreneur. Nowadays, things have changed, especially thanks to the access to internet and the facilities offered to web users. Doctors can benefit from the expertise of companies specializing in medical marketing, but they can also use tools that can give them the assets of real entrepreneurs, such the website. Managerial implications are discussed.
