A Bibliometric Analysis of Wine Tourism Using VOSviewer

Abstract: Abstract Wine tourism is a segment of tourism based on travel motivated by the appreciation of the taste and aroma of wines and the traditions and cultures of the places where this drink is produced. Wine tourism involves the visitor in the culture and details of the drink. This chapter aims to discover the scientific literature’s main contributions on wine tourism in this century. To this end, a bibliographic search was carried out on wine tourism using the Scopus database, which resulted in a list of 1512 documents that were then analyzed using VOSviewer software, including various analytical methods and units of analysis. The main conclusions of this study show that Australia predominates in terms of the highest number of citations and documents published. The keyword analysis identified four thematic groups: (1) wine tourism in the context of tourism development based on cultural heritage and rural and regional development; (2) wine tourism in its component as a tourist destination also related to destination image; (3) wine tourism related to concepts such as innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness; and (4) wine tourism related to marketing and consumer behavior.
