Abstract: Abstract In the context of globalization and growing cultural diversity in today’s societies, it becomes increasingly necessary to discuss the issue of citizenship education and promote the development of social skills. In this sense, an action research study was carried out, with 14 children in the fourth year of schooling, attending a school in a coastline municipality in the center/north of mainland Portugal. This research aimed to analyze the contribution of short films to the development of the concepts of respect for difference, solidarity, and tolerance, through the implementation of a set of experiences and/or interdisciplinary pedagogical activities planned for this purpose over 8 weeks. The data obtained by participant observation and pre- and post-intervention questionnaires allowed us to conclude that it is important for teachers to promote education for values in their pedagogical practice, in order to contribute to students’ personal development, thus forming responsible citizens who are aware of their attitudes. Interdisciplinary activities, combined with the use of an innovative technological resource, such as short films, contributed to the development of the concepts of respect for differences, solidarity, and tolerance, as well as to improving students’ behavior when interacting with their peers.
