Chapter Chapter 3 in Resilience and Digital Disruption, 2021, pp 39-54 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Rapid technological progress fosters transformations in the organization of production, both within and across countries. In recent decades, the main consequence of such progress has been the fragmentation of production by tasks. Companies may decide to profit from the competitive advantages of alternative locations and to offshore segments of their production which, previously, were performed at home and/or within the firm.
