Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides the research background to why this research was conducted, research questions and research purposes. In detail, the chapter describes the underlying causes of traffic congestion, the role of paratransit in Jabodetabek, traffic congestions from the perspective of consumer behaviour, research gaps related to passengers’ behavioural intentions, research purposes and the organization of the book.
