Be Proactive to Accelerate the Project Schedule

Chapter Chapter 43 in Lessons in Project Management, 2011, pp 181-186 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The project manager starts off a project with a schedule. However, it seems that projects never behave exactly as planned and soon you need to make adjustments. Some activities end late and new ones come along that you didn’t account for. If you’re lucky, some activities complete early and there’s some built-in contingency to help absorb inaccurate estimates. However, if you are unlucky (and this seems to be the case more often than not) you end up in a situation where you start trending over your deadline.
