Chapter Chapter 19 in Wine Tourism Destination Management and Marketing, 2019, pp 297-300 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The current chapter examines Oinoxeneia; an annual event in Aigialeia (Peloponnese, Greece) focused on the celebration and aesthetic promotion of the local wines, gastronomy and cultural identity. Oinoxeneia is a multidimensional festival organized by the Municipality of Aigialeia, Greece and the Municipal Welfare Business of Aigialeia (DIKEPA). The particularity of this event is a celebration of the unique regional wines and vineyards combined with the local gastronomy, geomorphology and cultural layers of Aigialeia. Such event aims to create an emerging wine tourism destination, underlining the promotion and extroversion of the area. Based on an interdisciplinary policy that brings together different threads of winery, culture and local identity, the main achievement of Oinoxeneia is the creation of a fruitful and dynamic hub of innovation revealing the attractive, sensory and hospitable character of Aigialeia.
