Chapter Chapter 37 in Wine Tourism Destination Management and Marketing, 2019, pp 599-602 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Metsovo, a mountainous village in Greece, is a paradigm of how private initiatives can successfully change an area and ameliorate the life conditions of its inhabitants. In this article, the ventures taken by Evangelos Averoff which contributed toward this direction are shortly presented. The actions taken by Katogi Averoff, the winery founded by Evangelos Averoff, to configure Metsovo as a wine tourism destination are also reviewed. It is argued that these initiatives transformed Metsovo into a pioneer destination in wine tourism in Greece, by offering an all-round wine experience, situated in a magical natural landscape.
